Billy Nick Inspires
A friend and co-worker of mine approached me about a project he wanted to start. He wanted to start a social media channel where he would focus on his lifestyle and inspirational messages. However, he wanted some help with branding. I was then commissioned to help him with his branding.
Here are some of the first sketches produced for this work.
Now Billy's lifestyle revolves around his working out regimen, fashion, and international messages. With that in mind, I asked him what it was he wanted his logo to look like. He wanted his strength to be the focus. I asked him to flex, and I quickly sketched his likeness.
After some further tweaks, we came to a design that he was happy with.
Let's Inspire
Now with the sketch in place, it's time to explore what typeface would go best with the design. Billy is very fashionable, so a typeface that could emphasize that would be best. Strength and Fashion are two of the ideas he had in mind for his social media channel after all.
Below is the exploration process I went through for the Typeface.
To emphasize fashion, I figured that a curvy yet bold typeface would be best.
A typeface has been chosen, so now it's time to start putting things together and start messing with colors. I had asked Billy what his favorite colors were. He replied with Red, Orange, Green, Blue, Teal, and Black.
I decided to then start the exploration of color to see which one Billy would prefer.
This had to be the longest part of the process. Many more colors were attempted and rejected.
Completion
Billy and I came to a decision. teal and dark blue would be the colors for the typeface and silhouette, with orange being the color of the shirt. One more satisfied customer, and one very bodacious logo created!
